1986-Present day
The New Wave Of Sweedish Death Metal begun in Gothenburg when bands like Grotesque and Infestation (both later At The Gates), Mega Slaughter and Valcyrie, and Braindead and Desecrator (later Ceremonial Oath) started mixing Heavy and Thrash Metal influences with their North American Death Metal Roots, the result was what some called Melodic Death Metal or "the Gothenburg Sound", however later due to the fact that not just Gothenburg but the whole of Sweden was doing it it became known as the NWOSDM, a tittle given to the scene by the press in honour of the late 70's & 80's New Wave Of British Heavy Heavy Metal (Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Motorhead, Saxon, etc).
From the Three Kings of the NWOSDM (At The Gates, Dark Tranquility & In Flames) to the "new schoolers" like Soilwork, Arch Enemy & Darkane (Amongst so many others); from the Thrash/Death Metal of The Haunted to the brutal Death Metal of The Crown (previously Crown Of Thorns), the NWOSDM is a genre no metalhead should overlook.
Some would say the NWOSDM is dead, this community chooses not to agree with that, however amongst our ranks we hope to have everyone who is a fan of the genre be it only of a particular band or the genre in full as well as people who are curious to find out more about the NWOSDM.
Community Porpuses:
To submit Photos of any kind that are related to one or more bands of the NWOSDM (to submit a photo send us a note). To submit review of NWOSDM albums, old and new, for that purpose we intend to create a review board (if you would like to be a part of the upcoming review board send us a note with your review of any NWOSDM album) To spread the word of old and new bands so that people who are curious about the genre or simply want to know more bands (if they are already fans of one or more NWOSDM bands) More will be done as (and if) the community grows, if you have a sugestion simply send us a note and we'll get in touch with you as soon as possible.Community objectives:
To enlist as many of DA's NWOSDM fans as well as fans of one or more particular bands of the genre and all those who wish to know more about it. To enlist all DA Communities in any way related to NWOSDM as our friendly Communities (Among other Communities) To provide reliable links for accurate information on as many NWOSDM bands as possible (that includes bands who no longer exist).
